The Canal Challenge

for

The British Heart Foundation

Hi! My name is Matt Anelay and I'm a PT and online coach from Leeds.

On June 16th 2024 I am attempting to run the full length of the Leeds and Liverpool canal, there and back. I will start in Leeds run all the way along the canal to Liverpool spin round and come back on myself. That is a total distance of 406km, so I will be averaging around 58km a day, which means I

need to complete 7 ultra-marathons in 7 days.

I have decided to raise money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) a charity that is personal to me as both my grandad and grandma passed away due to heart conditions. It is also ten years since my dad discovered he had heart complications and had to undergo life saving surgery. After his triple heart bypass my Dad is doing amazingly and loving life.

The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures.

My goal is to raise a £1000 for the BFH so they can continue to do their vital work and help save lives. You can donate to my Just Giving page by clicking the button below, any amount of donation is greatly appreciated.

An alternative way to help me achieve this goal and complete the challenge would be to donate to help fund the challenge. This will help cover the costs of fuel, accommodation, equipment, and other essentials. Again, any amount would be incredibly helpful, appreciated and go a long way. If you're a business or individual and would like to help out or be involved please contact me via email - [email protected].
